Camps

Camps are available in the Spring and Summer for ages pre-K through 5th

We offer two half day camps at the Texas Maritime Museum: Summer Experience in Aransas (S.E.A.) Camp and our afternoon H2Odyssey Camp.

Full Scholarships for both will be awarded through local schools to Aransas county students and residents only.

Sibling supplements for H2Odyssey Camp is first come first serve with no restrictions on residency.

Here is a little bit about each program –

 

Summer Experience in Aransas (S.E.A.) Camp: Students experience the best of Aransas County including history, wildlife and ecology with activities like kayaking, fishing, sandcastle building  and more. Activities are matched with grade levels, with variations for every age group. Campers visit attractions such as Texas Maritime Museum, Bay Education Center, Fulton Mansion, Goose Island State Park, Rockport Beach Park and other wonderful organizations.

 

June 13-17, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, current 1st-2nd grade.

June 20-24, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, current 3rd-4th grade.

July 11-15, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, current 3rd-4th grade.

July 18-22, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, current 1st-2nd grade.

July 25-29, 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, current 5th grade.

 

Grade levels based on 2015-16 school year. All Aransas County Students/Residents may attend FREE of charge due to the generosity of the Margaret Sue Rust Foundation. Non-Residents may attend for $50. Registration is first come first serve and spots are limited. Aransas County ONLY registration forms will be accepted Saturday, May 7, 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM at the Texas Maritime Museum front desk. All other forms (including non-residents) sent by mail, fax, email or drop off will be accepted on Monday, May 9th.

H2Odyssey Camp: Campers learn about the amazing element water is, the ways we use it, need it, fight it or change it. Activities demonstrate how things work, are built, reactions, physical properties and ways to create art.

Monday-Thursday camp hours are spent at the Texas Maritime Museum and end with fun water games. Fridays are spent at the Community Pool.

 

June 13-17, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM, current K-5th grade.

June 20-24, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM, current K-5th grade.

July 11-15, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM, current K-5th grade.

July 18-22, 1:30 PM – 4:00 PM, current K-5th grade.

 

Grade levels are based on 2015-2016 school year. Minimum age is 5. Registration begins Saturday, May 7. Registration fee is $75. Scholarship and sibling supplemental support for this program was provided by a grant from the Coastal Bend Community Foundation’s Kids Go to Camp 2. Scholarships have been awarded based on financial need and school recommendation. Sibling discounts are available on a first come first serve basis. Spaces are limited.

Become a Counselor

Sea Camp Counselors

Throughout the year, the Education Department at the Texas Maritime Museum is constantly searching for responsible young adults to assist our camps either as volunteers or paid counselors. A number of campers graduate into our volunteer program and age into a paid counselor position. Potential applicants unfamiliar with our programs are welcome and encouraged to apply to any and all camps. Individuals must be at least 11 years old to volunteer and at least 16 years old to become a paid counselor. Head Counselors must be at least 18 years old.
