Summer Experience in Aransas (S.E.A. Camp)
1st – 5th grade
FREE for Aransas Co Residents
$50 for non-residents
Our most popular and longest running camp, Summer Experience in Aransas (S.E.A.) Camp is a 1 week, half day camp held in June and July. This experience is offered FREE to Aransas County Residents through the generosity of the Margaret Sue Rust Foundation. Grades 1-5 (based on ending school year grade level) are welcome to attend. Grade levels are grouped together; 1st/2nd grade and 3rd/4th grade can choose from a week of camp in either June or July. Campers cannot attend both sessions. 5th grade camp will be held in July.
Campers are taken to attractions around Rockport/Fulton to learn all about Aransas County. We partner with Texas Parks and Wildlife Coastal Fisheries, Goose Island State Park, Fulton Mansion, and Bay Education Center. Campers, depending on age, will learn to kayak, fish, identify critters in the coastal estuaries, build professional sand castles and experience history on the coast.
Registration held the first Saturday in May, 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM at the Museum, on a first come first serve basis. Limited spots are available. Non-Resident registration forms will be accepted on the following Monday.
A week of water wonderment! Held in June and July, this 1 week, half day, paid camp has everything to do with water, its uses and properties. Campers learn about this amazing element and the ways people have used it, fought it or changed it by focusing on art, engineering, chemistry, and physics. Each day concludes with water games. Fridays are spent at the Rockport Aquatic Center Pool. Current grades K through 5th may attend (based on the ending school year level).
Become a Counselor
Throughout the year, the Education Department at the Texas Maritime Museum is constantly searching for responsible young adults to assist our camps either as volunteers or paid counselors. A number of campers graduate into our volunteer program and age into a paid counselor position. Potential applicants unfamiliar with our programs are welcome and encouraged to apply to any and all camps. Individuals must be at least 11 years old to volunteer and at least 16 years old to become a paid counselor. Head Counselors must be at least 18 years old.
