Set Sail on a Culinary Adventure

CHEF-LED, HANDS-ON COOKING CLASSES INSPIRED BY OUR AWARD-WINNING COOKBOOK

Set sail on a flavorful journey at the Texas Maritime Museum with our chef-led cooking class series, inspired by recipes from our award-winning cookbook, MariThyme Treasures. These hands-on culinary experiences invite you to learn new techniques, explore bold flavors, and enjoy the fruits of your labor all in the company of fellow food lovers.

Each intimate class is led by professional chef Deanna McCoy and includes all ingredients, cooking equipment, and a complimentary glass of wine to enjoy with your finished dish. With limited class sizes and high demand, early registration is highly recommended, and adventurous cooks are encouraged to chart a course through more than one class.

GAZPACHO WITH SEASONED SHRIMP & FRESHLY MADE CROUTONS – $65

Friday, January 16th | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Participants will explore techniques such as proper knife skills for fresh produce, flavor layering, seasoning seafood, and crafting house-made croutons for the perfect finishing touch. 

BEEF TENDERLOIN MEDALLIONS WITH PORTABELLA MUSHROOM SAUCE & RICE PILAF – $65

Saturday, February 28th | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

This class highlights techniques such as searing, temperature control, sauce-building, and preparing a perfectly balanced rice pilaf.

BEEF TENDERLOIN MEDALLIONS WITH PORTABELLA MUSHROOM SAUCE & RICE PILAF – $65

Saturday, February 28th | 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

This class highlights techniques such as searing, temperature control, sauce-building, and preparing a perfectly balanced rice pilaf.

CREAMY TARRAGON CHICKEN WITH ANGEL HAIR PASTA – $65

Friday, March 27th | 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Participants will learn methods for pan-cooking chicken, developing a smooth and flavorful cream sauce, working with fresh herbs, and properly cooking delicate pasta for ideal texture.

All classes take place in the Texas Maritime Museum Education Room

$65 per student, per class

All ingredients and gear are provided. Just bring your appetite!

Discounted copies of the MariThyme Treasures Cookbook will be available for purchase by students.

Whether you join us for one evening or the full series, these classes promise a delicious way to connect with maritime-inspired cuisine.

Chef Deanna McCoy

Chef Deanna is a distinguished culinary artist renowned for her passion for creating innovative and exceptional dining experiences. With over 30 years in the kitchen, Chef Deanna has built a reputation for bringing excellent culinary education to the classroom with modern techniques and traditional flavors in her dishes.

Originally from the Dallas Fort Worth area, Chef Deanna has brought her passion for cooking to the Rockport cultural community to share her love for cuisine and knowledge as an instructor.

This deep-rooted connection to food led her to pursue formal training at Le Cordon Bleu where she honed her skills in French cuisine, pastry arts, and food science.

Chef Deanna has enjoyed a career having been an Executive Chef in top notch restaurants and hotels, her career took off learning the nuances of Flavor profiles and techniques to the culinary elite. Chef Deanna is more than just a chef, but an artist, a leader, and an innovator of cuisine dedicated to inspiring and delight food lovers.
